About This Policy Commission
The overarching objective of the Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment, Creative Arts and Sports Industries (THECS) Policy Commission is to facilitate the adoption of various NES recommendations with a view to fast-tracking growth and development of the economy.
The leadership of the Policy Commission engages the Strategic Policy Analysis Unit of the National Planning Commission in quarterly meetings to follow-through on the implementation of the various NES recommended reforms. The Policy Commission is designed to comprise of members who are engaged in policy advocacy efforts before, during and after summits.

Objective: To stimulate more issue and evidence-based engagement between the relevant public sector institutions and other industry stakeholders To provide platforms for public-private sector consultations relating to industry policies and regulations and facilitate specific inputs to identify existing or potential policies To advocate a more joined-up approach public approach to public policy and regulation as it relates to the industry
Sports Industry
Objective: charting a course for the repositioning of sports as an industry in Nigeria to be able to contribute between 1.5-2% to the GDP of the country through meeting the local demand for sports goods and services i.e. Generate revenues between N1.5-2 Trillion annually in the industry

Milestones & Current Intiatives
- The Policy Commission engaged the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture (FMIC) in a high-level closed-door meeting to discuss plans to reform Nigeria's Tourism, Hospitality, Creative and Entertainment Sectors.
- The Tourism and Hospitality Thematic Group of the Policy Commission developed Position Papers with recommendations on improving the Tourism and Hospitality Sectors. These policy documents have been presented and used to engage the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture (FMIC).
- The Policy Commission, together with the Ministry of Information and Culture, has begun the development of a Tourism and Hospitality Industries Working Group.
- The Tourism and Hospitality Thematic Group completed a research project on “The Sectorial Policy Reform initiative: The Tourism and Hospitality Sectors Policy Reform/Development”.
