PROFILE – PROFESSOR FRANKLIN NGWU
Professor Franklin Nnaemeka Ngwu is a seasoned academic, policy advisor, and strategic management expert at Lagos Business School (LBS), where he serves as Professor and Director of the LBS Public Sector Initiative. He previously directed the LBS Sustainability Centre and recently concluded a role as Senior Policy and Research Consultant with the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).
He holds advanced degrees in law, economics, political economy, and sociology from the University of Manchester, Cardiff University, and University of Lagos. With over 20 years of experience, he has taught and consulted across academia, private, and public sectors in Nigeria and the UK, including engagements with institutions such as CBN, GTB, Coronation group, Banwo & Ighodalo, Dangote Group, and the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Professor Ngwu has also held teaching roles at prestigious UK universities and worked at Barclays Bank UK. His research spans corporate governance, banking regulation, economic policy, risk management, and development economics.
He has authored numerous academic publications and four major books, with a fifth—The Cambridge Handbook of Banking in Africa—forthcoming. He serves on various boards and advisory groups, including the UN SDGs Private Sector Advisory Group, Caritas Nigeria, and EPRON. He is affiliated with multiple professional bodies, including the Institute of Directors (IOD) and the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network.
