Following the Financing Safe Schools (FSS) CASTLE Creating a Safe Teaching-Learning Environment Event held in Abuja, on the 21st of April 2021, there was a commitment to the Abuja Safe Schools compact with the Government of Nigeria, Chairman of the Governor’s Forum, private sector, all security agencies, and the international community.  

 

This event seeks to follow-up on that commitment and ascertains the progress on key milestones since the agreement. Further to this, the event also provides linkages between the NES and the International Conference on Safety in Schools co-hosted by the Government of Nigeria and Norway. 

Objectives

  • The ‘Creating a Safe Teaching and Learning Environment- CASTLE’ side event will provide an update on the education emergency and Information on steps taken since April
  • The event will also outline activities for the next 12 months to establish safe teaching and learning environments, which is urgently needed to secure Nigeria’s economic future.
