The Sports Industry Working Group (SIWG) which consists of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and critical sector stakeholders are set to present the National Sports Industry Policy (NSIP) draft document to the honourable minister for Sports and Youth development, Mr. Sunday Dare on the 28th of July, 2020.

The presentation of the NSIP follows deliberations and presentations from the 25th Nigerian Economic Summit which was followed by the first ever Inter-ministerial session on Sports industry development and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the private sector represented by the NESG and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development. Furthermore, the NESG’s Sports industry thematic group (SITG) of the Tourism Hospitality, Entertainment, Creatives and Sports as a business Policy Commission (THECS) held six stakeholders engagement sessions of professionals from the National council of Sports and various Sports federations; Donor agencies, Multilaterals and MultinationalsProfessional and Trade groupsDevelopment Finance, Financial and investment InstitutionsEducational institutions and Media, entertainment and Ancillary groups met respectively to deliberate and draw inputs for a new National Sports Policy.

The several months of deliberations and engagements have culminated in the official presentation of the Draft 2020 National Sports Industry Policy Document to the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare which would take place virtually on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 11am prompt.
