NESG Holds 2024 Policy Commission Retreat

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) held the 2024 Policy Commission’s leaders retreat at Radisson Blu Hotel from January 26–28, 2024.

The significance of this policy commission retreat was to engage subject matter experts across NESG's public-private dialogue platforms and other crucial stakeholders in articulating a policy reform agenda with clear priorities for Nigeria’s economy in 2024 and beyond.

As NESG gears up for the 30th anniversary of the Nigerian Economic Summit in 2024, it is important for the private sector and other key actors in the economy to have a consolidated front for driving sustainable reforms across sectors. The retreat focused on achieving these objectives by including shaping the agenda for NES#30, exploring the philosophy of national development, and presenting the case for a new public-private interface framework in Nigeria.

At the climax of the retreat, facilitators and other thematic leaders worked on an agenda document to guide the technical Sub-Committee and the NES #30 Delivery Unit in shaping the Summit theme and sessions. Additionally, there was a focus on establishing clear reform priorities for the Nigerian economy, building consensus on a philosophy of national development, and presenting a new framework for achieving a democratic developmental state in Nigeria.
