This Webinar is organized by the NESG in collaboration with the World Bank Nigeria and seeks to provide insight into the policies required for Nigeria to spark the demographic transition. It aims to create a sense of urgency around shaping policies that ensures Nigeria’s demography produces a dividend and not a disaster.

OBJECTIVES 

i.To provide a platform for engagement of key stakeholders in decision making and implementation, including stronger government leadership and ownership of the DD agenda.

ii.To identify a set of proactive policies where urgent action is required to capitalize on the potential offered by the window of demographic opportunity particularly given the decentralized governance structure (which may produce sub-nationally differential implementation and/or commitment to policies and programs).

iii.To identify clear roles and responsibilities for institutions necessary to monitor and coordinate action to accelerate efforts for a demographic transition.

iv.To set goals for the attainment of Nigeria’s DD road map - short term and long-term emphasizing greater focus on results, data collection, and monitoring for results and impact.

v.To articulate an action package to guide NESG-led advocacy to government and partners.
