Optimism about the overall business situation increased slightly in the three months to June 2017. On the average, the overall BCM index edged up to 19.4 in Q2-2017, coming from 15.5 recorded in Q1-2017. However, the assessment of managers’ sentiments on their business condition as at second quarter revealed a subpar result. While business managers expect improved performance the Q2 as recorded in the Q1 report, the results show that actual business performance did not match with such expectations. With an index of -9.7, actual business performance in the second quarter of 2017 deteriorated when compared with -5.4 recorded in the previous quarter.
