Job Objectives

To ensure the effective and efficient administration of Global Compact Network Nigeria Secretariat in support of delivering the UNGC Country Mandate, Strategy and Plans.

Job Responsibilities

  • Translates the Global Compact Network Nigeria Strategy into Operational Terms and Drives implementation;
  • Defines and implements overall administration and operations strategy for Global Compact Network Nigeria, subject to presentation and approval of the same by the Board;
  • Provide broad-based administrative support: The planning, delivery, and follow-up of all Global Compact Network Nigeria meetings and events (e.g., logistics, agenda, materials, and minutes);
  • Coordinates the work of Global Compact Network Nigeria Volunteers to ensure all their inputs deliver agreed and prescribed outcomes and outputs;
  • Facilitates dialogue moving the agenda forward, resolving sensitive issues, strategically engaging the Board, Members and Champions, ensuring members deliver on commitments between formal meetings;
  • Provides a resource directory and online repository for Knowledge Management, Information generation, and sharing;
  • Provides analytical support by the provision of descriptive and analytic information on current situations, analyzing options, carrying out impact assessments, and providing international comparisons and best practices on specific Global Compact Network Nigeria issues;
  • Drives the growth of the organization by identifying issues of interest to new corporate members and opportunities for developing programs that will attract, retain and be of continued interest and benefit to members;
  • Anchors the development and implementation of an approach/strategy for taking Global Compact Network Nigeria recommendations forward to stakeholders;
  • Keeps current and potential members informed of the Global Compact Network Nigeria’s work and progress, drafting reports about the Global Compact Network Nigeria for external audiences, and bringing the Global Compact Network Nigeria ’s work to the attention of the media;
  • Provides access to technical support so that Global Compact Network Nigeria issues forwarded to the government have a solid legal and economic foundation as well as Support for their implementation;
  • Devises strategies to enhance the corporate image of the Global Compact Network Nigeria (build brand equity);
  • Coordinates Global Compact Network Nigeria ’s fundraising and mobilization strategy/framework and oversees the UNGCN’s grant and donor relations function;
  • Ensures articulation of Global Compact Network Nigeria ’s desired image and position;
  • Endorses all official communication between Global Compact Network Nigeria and external stakeholders (media, community, etc.) with the approval of the Chair;
  • Ensures the development of a good rapport with stakeholders (Board Committees, Work Streams, Corporate Members, media partners, press and relevant authorities) to enhance the image of Global Compact Network Nigeria;
  • Oversees/facilitates corporate events (internal and external) to ensure communication and brand uniformity/consistency;
  • Works with Global Compact Network Nigeria to consolidate reports to the local and global network.

  • Global Compact Network Nigeria Brand Equity
  • Number of negative reports that appear in the media and issue(s) resolution time

Educational Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in any field/ Management courses are required (MBA, Advanced Leadership Courses, Executive Management Courses, etc.)

Professional Qualifications

Membership of at least one of the relevant professional bodies. A GRI Certificate, Sustainability Reporting Certification will be an added advantage,

Desired Experience

At least 6 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in Development Sector Consulting, Development Practice. Must have at least 2+years in a supervisory role, Must have cognate experience in Programme Management, Complex Multi-stakeholder Management, M&E, Performance Reporting (GRI or Sustainability Reporting will be of keen interest)
